Colleps, a married woman and mother of three, is charged with five counts of improper relationship with students. She faces up to 20 years in prison and a total fine of $50,000.
The Star-Telegram reports the woman’s husband in the military was based in Fort Polk, La. All of the students were 18 or older at the time of the incident, but it is illegal for an educator to have a relationship with a student.
Aaron, the student, testified that he had sex with the teacher five times, and four of those times other students were present. Jurors watched a cell phone video of four students having sex with a woman who the young men identified as Colleps. Another student was shooting the video, Aaron said.
The Star-Telegram reports that the students generally seemed happy in the video, smiling and laughing throughout the incident.
Kennedale High Principal Rita Whatley testified that word spread among students about the sexual relationships. A parent, who happened to be a school employee, then heard about the teacher’s alleged actions and alerted the principal.
Elizabeth Beach and Tim Rodgers are prosecuting the case which is scheduled to continue Thursday morning.
