Some of it's importance are given below;
- Use
it as a selector in stylesheet when styling the widget. ( To use an Id
as a selector, you need to add the pound sign “#” as a prefix, as in
#YourWidgetId {}). - Use it with Javascript getElementById method to access the widget content.
You
might add many gadget's simply by going to layout and clicking on Add A
Gadget. But you won't know what it's id is. More over the truth is that
you don't care for it's ID thinking that they aren't used. But the fact
just goes opposite after seeing the importances if it above.4
But
anyway I have found a very simpler way to find it. By this method you
don't need to peep into your bulky template code, where actually it
resides. Here we go then;
- Login to your blogger account.
- Be forwarded to your dashboard>Design.
- There locate the widget whose ID is to be found.
- Click on it's "Edit" link and a pop-out window will appear.
- Here's a preview of such window;
- Maximize that window so that URL is fully visible.
- There in that very URL you will find your widget ID and Section.
- This was the URL of the widget whose preview is given above;
http://www.blogger.com/rearrange?blogID=7318744771322316563&action=editWidget§ionId=navbarbox&widgetType=null&widgetId=HTML3
- Here;
- navbarbox is the section ID of this widget.
- HTML3 is the widget ID of the respective widget.
